Remembering Rodao
(Music: Keith Brown / Lyrics: Roland Maddox)

Thinkin' 'bout Rodao, long time ago,
Seventeen and gonna make my mark in life,
Thinkin' 'bout Rodao, Lord I didn't know,
The people waitin' out there to get ahold of me and cause me strife.

Remembering Rodao, and nights I cried in my bed,
Nobody's ever too big a man to let a few tears come down,
My thoughts drift to Rodao, for it was there they tried to change my head,
And when they couldn't then they tried to hurt me any damned way they found.

And on the runway to a new life,
I nearly lost it, almost crashed to the ground,
And there was trouble, hassles and big strife,
People giving me lots of double-talk, and then the big runaround all over town.

And now no one can understand why I won't go back there,
And what's more, don't think they really care,
But Lord, I know that I ain't ever gonna live back there again.

Thinkin' 'bout Rodao, long time ago,
There ain't no time to take a glory ride these days,
Thinkin' 'bout Rodao, Lord, it just can't be so,
That people try their best to hurt you when they see they'll never change your ways.
