Old, Step To One Side

(Music & Lyrics by Keith Brown)

See the leaves falling to the ground,

They’ve lived their time and now the seasons change ‘round,

And see the flowers wilting in their fields,

Mother Nature called the change and now they know they must yield.

Hear the rain splash on the sidewalks in time,

The people searching for a reason or rhyme,

And such resistance from the ones who’ve grown old,

The time has come to change the shape of the mold.

Old, step to one side and make room for the new,

To live their young lives in the way that they choose,

So many changes than you care to name,

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Love each other, reach for your brother,

Help one another…

When sands are shifting around you,

Now it surely seems so hard,

You’d better hear what I’m saying now,

There’s only one thing we can do,

It’s just the changing of the guard.

And each generation seeks a whole new sensation

For the old explanations.

Hear the whimper of the baby child,

Going to be grown up in a little while,

And know that things, they will be done his way,

So live tomorrow what you preach today.

Old, step to one side and make room for the new,

To live their young lives in the way that they choose,

So many changes than you care to name,

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Old, step to one side and make room for the new,

To live their young lives in the way that they choose,

So many changes than you care to name,

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
