Ivory & Lavister

(Words & Music by K. Brown)

Ivory & Lavister were sailing ships one day,

When a storm blew up quite by surprise and blew their boat away,

So out they went a’ sailing through waters then unknown,

They never knew they’d just begun their final voyage home.

Long hours they did travel as the crashing waves drew near,

Said Lavister to Ivory now, “My love our lives I fear,”

And Ivory looked on grimly as the waves danced to and fro,

And got down on his knees to pray to the Captain Of Their Boat.

He turned his gaze toward the Spanish Moors,

Looked long and hard in search of distant shores,

And all the while their boat was drifting free, so free,

Through the endless crashing waves, the angry sea,

And said “Let it be”,

Said “Come and set us free, so free”.

Just then the waves took over, the little boat collapsed,

And Ivory & Lavister both drew their dying gasp,

To this day I’ve often wondered, you see, it took place all so fast,

For each day another ship goes down and another storm flies past.

Yes, Ivory & Lavister were sailing ships one day,

When a storm blew up quite by surprise and blew their boat away,

So out they went a’ sailing through waters then unknown,

They never knew they’d just begun their final voyage home.
