Lyrics

Kentucky Day
(Words & Music by Keith Brown - 1968)

I don’t mind if it should rain, I don’t care about the pain,
I just laugh ‘cause I feel fine, all I want is my peace of mind,
On this Kentucky day.

I should worry more about today,
But that’s not done easily when I’m feeling so carefree,
I feel the wind as it’s rushing about my face,
When I’m feeling wild and free,
Life is as easy as ABC.

And I can’t cry about the past, today is here and it’s moving fast,
Lightning strikes yet I keep on, night and day ‘till break of dawn,
On this Kentucky day.

I see them rushing about their merry way,
As though the sky would fall, but they can have it all,
I only need to worry about today,
So I don’t feel the need to live this life of greed.

Now I hear the beat of a different drum, and I don’t care about the days to come,
All I want is my peace of mind, to ease on back and let it all unwind,
On this Kentucky day.

They’re telling me to get myself in line,
As if I’m gonna heed advice that I don’t need,
They say I need a plan to get me by,
I don’t look that far ahead,
Who knows? Tomorrow may find me dead.

So I don’t mind if it should rain, I don’t care about the pain,
I just laugh ‘cause I feel fine, all I want is my peace of mind,
On this Kentucky day.
